BASF hikes vitamin A prices by 20%
German chemical giant, BASF, is to raise its prices for its vitamin A products by 20%.
The increase will take effect immediately, said the producer.
However, BASF said existing contractual obligations with customers will not be affected.
A spokesperson for the German group told our sister site NutraIngredients that the price hike reflects the global market supply and demand dynamics for the vitamin.
The last time BASF raised the price of vitamin A products was in 2013.
The company produces vitamin A for the animal and human nutrition industries as well as the cosmetic industry from its site in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
