Galil Algae and Cellana in aquaculture feed joint venture
Cellana, a Hawaii-based developer of algae-based feedstocks for biofuels, animal feed and omega-3 nutritional oils, has signed a letter of intent with Israel-based Galil Algae to produce high-value algae products for aquaculture uses.

The main goal of the collaboration, said the companies, is to identify, cultivate, develop and scale up new and improved strains identified through non-GMO techniques such as selective breeding or through bioprospecting.

In addition, Cellana and Galil Algae said they will look at the possibility of setting up a new algae research and development center in northern Israel, which would become a focal point for the development and testing of new or optimized strains of high-value algae biomass.
